Brunello di Montalcino Il Greppo 1997, Biondi Santi
A monument of global winemaking. A historic vintage that today presents itself in an absolute state of grace, where the freshness of Sangiovese blends with the complexity of time. On the nose, it alternates floral hints with notes of noble spices and earth, while on the palate it shines with acidic tension that makes it feel remarkably youthful despite its age.
Brunello di Montalcino Il Greppo 1997, Biondi Santi
The 1997 Brunello di Montalcino by Biondi Santi (Tenuta Greppo) is a liquid legend, born from what was called "the vintage of the century." Franco Biondi Santi, the "gentleman of Brunello," produced in this vintage a wine of proverbial longevity and elegance. On the nose, it is a sensory journey: the initial notes of marasca cherry in spirit and dried rose petals evolve into a complex tertiary bouquet of fine leather, pipe tobacco, tar, incense, and a hint of flint. On the palate, it is the essence of verticality: it does not seek muscular power, but the perfection of form. The tannin, once austere, is today fused and velvety, supported by a surprisingly lively citric acidity that provides lift and freshness to an endless and aristocratic finish.
