A masterpiece of 'Burgundian' elegance. In a fresh vintage, Biondi Santi produces a wine of rare tension and purity. Brunello di Montalcino Il Greppo 2018, Biondi Santi
The 2018 Brunello di Montalcino from Biondi Santi is the essence of finesse in a fresh, terroir-driven vintage. After the warmth of 2017, 2018 allowed Tenuta Greppo to produce a wine focused entirely on tension and floral notes. On the nose, it is a delicate yet persistent symphony: dog rose, small crisp red fruits (raspberry and pomegranate), blood orange, and a chalky mineral streak, complemented by a balsamic hint of medicinal herbs. On the palate, it is pure liquid silk; the entry is graceful but supported by a noble and vibrant acidity. The tannins are extremely fine, almost imperceptible yet present in their aristocratic structure. The finish is extremely clean, long, savory, and citrusy, with a persistence that doesn’t weigh down but constantly invites a second sip.
