Chablis Montée de Tonnerre 1er Cru 2022, François Raveneau
A monumental white, the liquid legend of Burgundy. The aromatic profile alternates between the purest citrus and a Kimmeridgian minerality of extreme power and finesse. On the palate, it is dense, savory, and characterized by a masterful balance between the volume of the Chardonnay and a refreshing acidic edge. An absolute show of strength that sets the global standard for Chablis.
Chablis Montée de Tonnerre 1er Cru 2022, François Raveneau
The Chablis 1er Cru Montée de Tonnerre 2022 by François Raveneau is, by far, the most sought-after and iconic Premier Cru of the entire appellation. Located on the same slope as the Grand Crus, this vineyard benefits from an exposure and Kimmeridgian soil that, in Raveneau's hands, translate into a wine of almost unattainable depth. The 2022 vintage provided generous ripening, but the Raveneau family's style, characterized by fermentations in used barrels and meticulous protection of the fruit, has preserved a vibrant tension. On the nose, it is a labyrinth: notes of cedar peel, white flowers, and green apple blend with deep hints of flint, iodine, and a very subtle trace of honey and beeswax. On the palate, it is sumptuous, almost monolithic; the entry is broad and velvety, but it is immediately dominated by a mineral and acidic drive that makes the finish endless and of aristocratic nobility.
