Corton Prince Florent de Merode Grand Cru 2015, Domaine de la Romanée-Conti
The Corton "Prince Florent de Merode" 2015 from Domaine de la Romanée-Conti is a wine of rarety and magnetic charm. Born from an agreement with the de Merode family for the management of three parcels, this Grand Cru represents the legendary "Maison"'s foray into the Côte de Beaune. The 2015 vintage is considered a sun-drenched masterpiece, capable of giving the Corton a fleshiness and richness that soften its natural austerity. On the nose, it is an ecstasy of complexity: clear notes of small red fruits, candied cherry, and violet blend with deep scents of undergrowth, fine leather, oriental spices, and an iron-tinged mineral trace. On the palate, it is sumptuous in its precision; the entry is silky but immediately reveals a very dense, noble, and sculpted tannic structure that supports an imposing framework. The finish is endless, fresh, and characterized by a balsamic return and blood orange notes.
