Port Colheita 2008, Niepoort
The elegance of time. A vintage Tawny Port aged in small oak casks, enchanting with notes of dried fruits, orange peel, and an endless silkiness.
Port Colheita 2008, Niepoort
The Niepoort 2008 Colheita Port is a monumental work, a tribute to the tradition of vintage-dated Tawny Ports crafted with Dirk Niepoort's innovative vision. Unlike Vintage Ports, Colheitas rest in wood for a minimum of seven years (often much longer in the case of Niepoort), developing an oxidative complexity that transforms the primary fruit into pure liquid silk. 2008 was a vintage of great freshness and precision. On the nose, it is a concert of rare elegance: clear notes of dried figs, candied orange peel, and nuts blend with deep aromas of toffee, cigar box, molasses, and a mineral trail reminiscent of the graphite of Duriense schist. On the palate, it is sumptuous and velvety; the entry is broad, dominated by dense yet highly agile texture, thanks to a vibrant acidic backbone, with an endless finish that is savory and characterized by aristocratic balsamic freshness.
